Welcome to Old River Lane

Henderson Global Investors is proposing an exciting new quarter in the north eastern corner of Bishop's Stortford's town centre, known as Old River Lane. The proposed scheme includes a new department store, an extension to the existing Waitrose supermarket, retail units, restaurants, a cinema, hotel, new homes and additional town centre car parking.

Old River Lane will offer a new pedestrianised shopping street and two new public spaces. It also provides the opportunity to create a new square outside the United Reformed Church on Water Lane.

The proposals will integrate with the town centre providing connections with existing shopping streets, Jackson Square and will integrate with the weekly market on Bridge Street. It will also encourage access to Castle Park and the wider countryside to the east of the town.

The scheme has been designed to complement the existing architectural styles of the town centre and to be a place that people can enjoy throughout the day.
